ERGOM

ERGOM is a Polish company that has grown into a leader among suppliers of electrotechnical products, exporting its goods to over 50 countries worldwide. Its portfolio includes more than 15,000 products, used daily in industries such as electrotechnics, energy, telecommunications, healthcare, automotive, and construction. The scope of services included implementing a product database, preparing four product catalogs, and creating PDF product sheets in three language versions—all based on the Amirada PIM system.

Requirements and needs

ERGOM collaborates daily with businesses worldwide. In Poland, the brand’s products are available in over 1,000 wholesalers. As a market leader and recipient of prestigious awards (e.g., Gazele Biznesu, National Innovation Leader, and Export Leaders), ERGOM, focused on continuous growth, required a reliable PIM system to efficiently manage product information and create professional sales materials.

Applied solutions

Understanding the importance for the client of managing numerous technical data attributes, having a multilingual database, and automatically generating complex tables and layouts in sales materials, we recommended the following solutions:

  • Basing the entire implementation on the reliable Amirada GmbH system, which enables the integration of the product database with tools for automated publishing
  • Utilizing Adobe InDesign, managed with specialized Amirada plug-ins and the amirada.design module, to automate DTP composition
  • Applying custom classifications to efficiently manage a large number of technical attributes
  • Integrating ETIM classification directly into the PIM system

Product database

The PIM system we designed and implemented features a tree-like structure that allows for the quick creation of proper data hierarchies. It is managed using a dedicated Windows client. One of the key advantages of the database is the ability to perform bulk edits of all data using Excel. This includes translation management, which now takes significantly less time. Additionally, the system automatically flags potential translation errors by marking specific areas with color indicators.

Key features of the PIM system include:

  • Multilingual support
  • Dynamic relationships between objects, such as product-to-accessories, product-to-kit components, or product-to-similar products
  • Accurate representation of product descriptions
  • Support for ETIM and BMEcat standards

Product catalog

The product catalogs prepared for ERGOM were among the most complex we have designed. Four separate publications were created in Polish, English, and Russian language versions. Each had a highly demanding layout that adapted depending on the product groups.

Other important features of the catalogs:

  • Clear and comprehensible presentation of complex and highly diverse data for the audience
  • Inclusion of advanced product tables
  • Dynamically generated cross-references to other pages within the publication

PDF data sheet

The layout of the PDF product data sheets, like the catalogs, adapted to the specific product group being presented. Each group required a tailored approach to data presentation due to its unique characteristics. We created three language versions of each product sheet, all based on Adobe InDesign.

The product sheets include the following data:

  • Images
  • Technical drawings
  • Key properties, complemented by icons
  • Complex tables with product data

Integration with the B2B system

A data export from the PIM system to the B2B platform database was prepared and configured. The synchronization process is fully automated and requires no additional user input. All technical and descriptive data, including translations, are sourced entirely from the PIM system.

Summary

The extensive assortment and high diversity of products within each ERGOM product group formed the foundation of the solutions we implemented. The ability to quickly edit data and automatically generate publications with layouts tailored to the presented product was a top priority. By basing the implementation on the Amirada GmbH system, we ensured that this goal was achieved. The system eliminated errors caused by human factors and accelerated the production of sales materials, enabling the client to explore new market expansion opportunities.
