KANLUX is a global company with over 30 years of experience, ranking as one of the leading enterprises in the lighting sector. Their products are popular in more than 40 countries. The high quality of their products is attributed to the Kanlux research laboratory, where they test reliability and durability.
Requirements and needs
The dynamic growth of what was initially a small company, now offering its products globally, led the enterprise to choose a robust product information management system. Centralized data has significantly reduced the time required for integration with the B2C system and the creation of a multi-language product catalog spanning hundreds of pages.
Product database
The product database we designed and implemented features a tree-like structure, allowing for the quick creation of appropriate data hierarchies. The object-oriented data model ensures a natural representation of relationships between objects.
Key features of the database include:
- Bulk data editing using Excel
- Content management in 25 languages
- Dynamic relationships between objects (e.g., accessories, light sources)
- Data export in BMEcat format
- Data synchronization with ERP
Additionally, it is worth mentioning the ability to manage data in compliance with the ETIM classification standard (used in the electrotechnical industry). This is crucial for international sales. Moreover, providing standardized information about the products being sold is often a key requirement for participating in tenders.
Product catalog
We made every effort to ensure that the KANLUX product catalog presents the company's offerings in the clearest and most accessible way for customers. The multi-language document, spanning hundreds of pages, includes product tables with graphic headers that are generated automatically, among other features. Textual and numerical attribute values are seamlessly converted into corresponding property icons. The catalog layout is prepared within the PIMCORE system interface using a Drag & Drop method with the ACTIVE PUBLISHING module.
Integration with the B2C system
Direct data transfer from PIM to the B2C system database automates the synchronization process. As a result, no additional work is required from the user. All product data (technical and descriptive) as well as translations are fully sourced from the PIM system. The mechanism for reading data from PIMCORE and subsequently writing it to the ECOMMERCE platform was entirely developed in-house by the client.
